Micro UX 4

Updated: Jun 27, 2019

Before we were thinking about how to motivate users to place order online together, but we came across some problems that were hard to solve. We also did brainstorming together. Then we analyzed previous researches again and got some findings.

We find that, some user said supermarkets are really nearby, but when they go back home they still don't buy the things they need, leading to shopping online.

Based on this, I drew the story board below to analyze how these scenarios happen.

Then we find there is a memory burden occurs in our daily life. When passing the store or shopping in the store, many times users cannot remember all the things they need to buy, sometimes only one or two pieces. When they forget too many times, they tend to buy a lot in one time online to prevent forgetting in the next time.

I researched how people forgetting things. For groceries, people use them with a low frequency in a day. They have a feeling after use when something is going to run out, but after that moment, they are easy to forget about this. Some users used to record on phone to remind themselves when shopping.

So, we think if we can design a more convenient and efficient way to remind users when they are close to the supermarket, so that products bought in one time online can be taken apart to several parts. Therefore, online delivery times can decrease.

After our brainstorming, we want to find a way to monitor the use of these products. When something is going to run out, records are uploaded to the phone and users can be reminded in time. So, we want to find a good way to monitor.

First, we observed how users put their groceries. They mainly put in the kitchen and bathroom.

We also explored different interactions of different packages to find design opportunities.

Then I take the bottle apart to see how people use it and analyze the whole process from new to empty.

We researched some technologies to see if our concept can be supported.

I found the smart sensor can be used to monitor force, speed, temperature and even chemical changes.

We choose the smart sensor to monitor force which means the remaining amount can be sensed. When the bottle is put down, the real time condition can be monitored at once and the data can be up loaded to the phone.

I made this 3D model to show how the pad with smart sensor works.

When something is running out after use, the pad can give a feedback to the user and a corresponding prompt is displayed on the phone. User can also set reminding limit.

I made the prototype on the phone.

The next question is how to give a strong remind to motivate users to enter the shop. The pictures below is a reference for the primary idea.
